Yes I agree... Is there a cure for civic apathy? Maybe again it's the
squeaky wheel... Lamenting the current state, or recognizing the truth are
simply perceptions. This might be the perfect forum, especially since it is
an overall systemic problem. All the systems we see and are involved with
have these very similar elements. I could focus on the engineering or
business, but have tried to show the same symptoms elsewhere. It's
interesting how these things seem so obvious to me while are ignored by
others, where seemingly people keep their heads buried in the sand, or TV as
it might be.
Or maybe I simply have the propensity to find these issues. Like one time
doing research in a lab here, I wondered why all the other labs were always
empty. Just a simple question I thought... "Oh those are funded by big
defense contracts so secret that no one ever checks if anything is actually
done, so nothing is ever done." WHAT?? "That's standard procedure like the
$500 toilet seat, they just need to spend the money, results don't matter
and are easily fabricated."
Recognizing the situations is fundamental to change, whether it's in child
welfare, government contracting or any other community application... Cures
come with understanding first don't you think?
